I know many that start marketing online and they just assume that because what they have is something people want, they will be making millions in a short period of time. Think about it; the mortgage industry was the same prior to 2007.

Many loan officers and mortgage brokers got into the business thinking that just because folks would refinance that they would be busy. NO!

People only do business with people they like and trust. So, if they don’t like you as a person, chances are that these folks won’t do business with you-PERIOD.

It’s NOT that simple folks. Don’t assume that people will do business with you just because you sell a hot item or because you are likable by most. You won’t resonate with everyone, so it’s all about creating YOUR brand.

So, the key to branding and marketing you is to do it consistently. There isn’t any way around it, and no matter what business you are in this is always the case.

You also need to be sure of a few other things:

  1. Your marketing message MUST be consistent
  2. Your marketing message MUST be congruent with who you are
  3. Your marketing message MUST create value, otherwise you will lose your target audience

Don’t lose sight of the goal at hand, because it’s easy to do when you want to leave the job you are in and create time freedom for yourself. Remember it’s all about the long term venture and meeting those goals, not the money.

The money will come in time, but it’s about building relationships. If you shift your focus to branding and marketing you, you will have no problem doing so.
